Putting -λ¬ [reo] after a verb explains the reason for going or coming somewhere.
- λ¨Ήλ€ [meok-da] to eat β λ¨ΉμΌλ¬ [meo-geu-reo] in order to eat
- λ§μλ€ [ma-si-da] to drink β λ§μλ¬ [ma-si-reo] in order to drink
- μ½λ€ [ilk-da] to read β μ½μΌλ¬ [il-geu-reo] in order to read
- 곡λΆνλ€ [gong-bu-ha-da] to study β 곡λΆνλ¬ [gong-bu-ha-reo] in order to study
When the verb stem ends in a CONSONANT sound, we use -μΌλ¬ [eu-reo]
- μμΉ¨μ λ¨Ή- [a-chim-eul meok-]
- μ¬μ§μ μ°- [sa-jin-eul jjik-]
When the verb stem ends in a VOWEL sound, we use -λ¬ [reo]
- μ¬νμ κ°- [yeo-haeng-eul ga-]
- μ λ¬Όμ μ£Ό- [seon-mu-reul ju-]
μ νκ΅μ κ°μ? [wae hak-gyo-e ga-yo?]
Why are you going to school?
- μ [wae] means "why"
- νκ΅μ κ°μ? [hak-gyo-e ga-yo?] means "Do you go to school?"
- Literally means "why, Do you go to school?"
곡λΆνλ¬ νκ΅μ κ°μ. [gong-bu-ha-reo hak-gyo-e ga-yo]
I'm going to school to study.
- 곡λΆνλ¬ [gong-bu-ha-reo] means "In order to study"
- νκ΅μ κ°μ [hak-gyo-e ga-yo] means "I go to school"
- Literally means "In order to study, I go to school"

μ μ½μΌλ¬ λμκ΄μ κ°μ. [chae-geul il-geu-reo do-seo-gwan-e ga-yo]
I'm going to the library to read a book.
- μ± μ μ½μΌλ¬ [chae-geul il-geu-reo] means "in order to read a book"
- λμκ΄μ κ°μ [do-seo-gwan-e ga-yo] means "I go to the library"
We can use purpose ending -λ¬ only with verbs of motion like 'μ€λ€' [o-da] come / 'κ°λ€' [ga-da] go
- μμΉ¨μ λ¨ΉμΌλ¬ κ°μ΄μ. [a-chim-eul meo-geu-reo ga-sseo-yo] I went to have breakfast.
- μ λ¬Όμ μ£Όλ¬ μμ΄μ. [seon-mu-reul ju-reo wa-sseo-yo] I came to give a gift.

Where are you going today? - B: μΉ΄νμ κ°μ. [ka-pe-e ga-yo]
I'm going to the cafe. - A: μ μΉ΄νμ κ°μ?
Why are you going to the cafe? - B: 곡λΆνλ¬ μΉ΄νμ κ°μ. [gong-bu-ha-reo ka-pe-e ga-yo]
I'm going to the cafe to study. - A: λ΄μΌ μ΄λμ κ°μ?
Where are you going tomorrow? - B: μΌννλ¬ λ°±νμ μ κ°μ. [syo-ping-ha-reo bae-kwa-jeom-e ga-yo]
I'm going to the department store to go shopping. - A: κ°μ΄ κ°μ!
