How to form Korean verbs into the future tense.
- Step 1: Drop the ๋ค [da]. ํ๋ค [ha-da] to do โ ํ [ha]
- Step 2: Add -์ [eul]/ใน [-l] ๊ฑฐ์์ [geo-ye-yo]. ํ [ha] โ ํ ๊ฑฐ์์ [hal geo-ye-yo] I will do it.
When the verb stem ends in a CONSONANT sound, we use -์ ๊ฑฐ์์ [eul geo-ye-yo]
- ์์นจ์ ๋จน- [a-chim-eul meok-]
- ์ฌ์ง์ ์ฐ- [sa-jin-eul jjik-]
When the verb stem ends in a VOWEL sound, we use -ใน ๊ฑฐ์์ [-l geo-ye-yo]
- ์ฌํ์ ๊ฐ- [yeo-haeng-eul ga-]
- ์ ๋ฌผ์ ์ฃผ- [seon-mu-reul ju-]
๊ณต๋ถํ ๊ฑฐ์์. [gong-bu-hal geo-ye-yo]
I will study.
- ๊ณต๋ถํ๋ค [gong-bu-ha-da] to study
- ๊ณต๋ถํ ๊ฑฐ์์. [gong-bu-hal geo-ye-yo]
์์นจ์ ๋จน์ ๊ฑฐ์์. [a-chim-eul meo-geul geo-ye-yo]
I will eat breakfast.
- ๋จน์ ๊ฑฐ์์ [meo-geul geo-ye-yo] means "I will eat it."
- ์์นจ์ ๋จน๋ค [a-chim-eul meok-da] to eat breakfast
- ์์นจ์ ๋จน์ ๊ฑฐ์์. [a-chim-eul meo-geul geo-ye-yo]
์ฌํ์ ๊ฐ ๊ฑฐ์์. [yeo-haeng-eul gal geo-ye-yo]
I will travel.
- ๊ฐ ๊ฑฐ์์. [gal geo-ye-yo] means "I will go."
- ์ฌํ์ ๊ฐ๋ค [yeo-haeng-eul ga-da] to travel
- ์ฌํ์ ๊ฐ ๊ฑฐ์์. [yeo-haeng-eul gal geo-ye-yo]
์ํ๋ฅผ ๋ณผ ๊ฑฐ์์. [yeong-hwa-reul bol geo-ye-yo]
I will watch a movie.
- ๋ณผ ๊ฑฐ์์. [bol geo-ye-yo] means "I will watch it."
- ์ํ๋ฅผ ๋ณด๋ค [yeong-hwa-reul bo-da] to watch a movie
- ์ํ๋ฅผ ๋ณผ ๊ฑฐ์์. [yeong-hwa-reul bol geo-ye-yo]
Changing the intonation makes the sentence into a question.
- ์ํ๋ฅผ ๋ณผ ๊ฑฐ์์. [yeong-hwa-reul bol geo-ye-yo] I will watch a movie.
- ์ํ๋ฅผ ๋ณผ ๊ฑฐ์์? [yeong-hwa-reul bol geo-ye-yo?] Will you watch a movie?
Conversation
- A: ๋ด์ผ ๋ญ ํ ๊ฑฐ์์?
What are you going to do tomorrow? - B: ์ฝ์ํธ์ ๊ฐ ๊ฑฐ์์. [kon-seo-teu-e gal geo-ye-yo]
I will go to the concert. - B: ์์นจ์ ๋ญ ํ ๊ฑฐ์์?
What are you going to do in the morning? - A: ์ฐ์ฑ
ํ ๊ฑฐ์์. [san-chae-kal geo-ye-yo]
I will go on a walk.
