本を読みます [hon o yomimasu]
I read a book.

• 本 [hon] means "book"
• -を [-o] makes the subject target of the action
• 読みます [yomimasu] means "I read."
• Literally means "Book, I read"

ドアを閉めます [doa o shimemasu]
I close the door.

• ドア [doa] means "door"
• -を [-o] makes the subject target of the action
• 閉めます [shimemasu] means "I close."
• Literally means "Door, I close"

You can use -を [-o] to create multiple sentences.

• 映画を見ます [eiga o mimasu] I watch a movie.
• 日本語を習います [nihongo o naraimasu] I learn Japanese.
• 英語を教えます [eigo o oshiemasu] I teach English.

• A: 何をしますか
  What will you do?
• B: 本を読みます [hon o yomimasu]
  I will read a book.
