Group 1 has several rules to making the verbs their 恦 [te] form.

Group 1 verb whose root ends in 'ku':
Example: ę›øć [kaku] / åƒć [hataraku] / 聞恏 [kiku]

  • Step 1. Make it the polite form
  • Step 2. Drop the -ます [masu]
  • Step 3. Drop the k sound before 'i'
  • Step 4. Attach 恦 [te]
  • ę›øć [kaku] → ę›øćć¾ć™ [kakimasu] → ę›øć [kaki] → 書い [kai] → 書いて [kaite]

Group 1 verb ends with 'nu', 'mu', or 'bu':
Example: čŖ­ć‚€ [yomu] / 遊ぶ [asobu] / 飲む [nomu]

  • Step 1. Drop the last syllable
  • Step 2. Attach -悓恧 [nde]
  • čŖ­ć‚€ [yomu] → čŖ­ [yo] → 読んで [yonde]

Group 1 verb whose last sound before the '-u' is a vowel:
Example: ä¼šć† [au] / 言う [iu] / č”Œć [iku]

  • Step 1. Drop the last syllable
  • Step 2. Attach って [tte]
  • ä¼šć† [au] → 会 [a] → 会って [atte]
  • Note: č”Œć [iku] applies the same rule

Please listen.

  • 聞恄恦 [kiite] is the 恦 [te] form for "listen"
  • 恏恠恕恄 [kudasai] means "please"

  • 読んで [yonde] is the 恦 [te] form for "read"
