Make a sentence to express intentions with -(으)려고 해요 [(eu)ryeo-go hae-yo]

Step 1: Drop the 다 [da]. 공부하다 [gong-bu-ha-da] to study → 공부하 [gong-bu-ha]

Step 2: Add -(으)려고 해요 [(eu)ryeo-go hae-yo]. 공부하 [gong-bu-ha] → 공부하려고 해요 [gong-bu-ha-ryeo-go hae-yo] I intend to study.

• When the verb stem ends in a CONSONANT, use -으려고 해요 [eu-ryeo-go hae-yo] (읽-, 먹-)
• When the verb stem ends in a VOWEL, use -려고 해요 [ryeo-go hae-yo] (보-, 치-)
• When the verb stem ends with ㄹ, use -려고 해요 [ryeo-go hae-yo] (만들- → 만들려고 해요)

오늘 공부하려고 해요. [o-neul gong-bu-ha-ryeo-go hae-yo]
I intend to study today.

• 오늘 [o-neul] means "today"
• 공부하려고 해요 [gong-bu-ha-ryeo-go hae-yo] means "I intend to study."

한국에 가려고 해요. [han-gu-ge ga-ryeo-go hae-yo]
I intend to go to Korea.

• 한국 [han-guk] means "Korea"
• 가려고 해요 [ga-ryeo-go hae-yo] means "I'm trying to go."

번데기를 먹으려고 해요. [beon-de-gi-reul meo-geu-ryeo-go hae-yo]
I intend to eat silkworm pupa.

• 번데기 [beon-de-gi] means "silkworm pupa"
• 먹으려고 해요 [meo-geu-ryeo-go hae-yo] means "I'm trying to eat it."

만들려고 해요. [man-deul-ryeo-go hae-yo]
I'm trying to make it.

• Step 1: 만들다 [man-deul-da] to make → 만들 [man-deul]
• Step 2: 만들 [man-deul] → 만들려고 해요 [man-deul-ryeo-go hae-yo]

• A: 이번 주말에 어디에 가려고 해요?
  Where do you intend to go during the weekend?
• B: 홍대에 가려고 해요. [hong-dae-e ga-ryeo-go hae-yo]
  I intend to go to Hongdae.
• A: 홍대에서 뭐하려고 해요?
  What do you intend to do in Hongdae?
• B: 홍대에서 쇼핑하려고 해요. [hong-dae-e-seo syo-ping-ha-ryeo-go hae-yo]
  I intend to go shopping in Hongdae.
