と [to] means "and" when connecting nouns, but it also means "with" when indicating the person you are doing an action with.
誰と行きましたか [dare to ikimashita ka]
Who did you go with?
- 誰と [dare to] means "with whom"
- 行きましたか [ikimashita ka] means "Did you go?"
弟と行きました [otōto to ikimashita]
I went with my younger brother.
- 弟と [otōto to] means "with my younger brother"
- 行きました [ikimashita] means "I went."
誰とアニメを見ましたか [dare to anime o mimashita ka]
Who did you watch anime with?
- 誰と [dare to] means "with whom"
- アニメを見ましたか [anime o mimashita ka] means "Did you watch anime?"
姉とアニメを見ました [ane to anime o mimashita]
I watched anime with my older sister.
- 姉と [ane to] means "with my older sister"
