Are you a student?

  • あなた [anata] means "you"
  • [wa] particle that means "as for.."

Are you an office worker?

  • あなたは [anata wa] means "As for you"
  • 会社員ですか [kaishain desu ka] means "Are you an office worker?"

私は先生です [watashi wa sensei desu]
I am a teacher.

  • 私は [watashi wa] means "as for me"
  • 先生です [sensei desu] means "I am a teacher."
