Lesson
Transforming verb to an intention:
- Step 1: Have the verb in its plain form. する [suru]
- Step 2: Add つもりです [tsumori desu]
- する [suru] → するつもりです [suru tsumori desu] I intend to do it.
何をするつもりですか [nani o suru tsumori desu ka]
What do you intend to do?
- 何 [nani] means "what"
- するつもりですか [suru tsumori desu ka] means "Do you intend to do it?"
本を読むつもりです [hon o yomu tsumori desu]
I intend to read a book.
- 本 [hon] means "book"
- 読むつもりです [yomu tsumori desu] means "I intend to read."
単語を覚えるつもりです [tango o oboeru tsumori desu]
I intend to memorize vocabulary.
- 単語 [tango] means "vocabulary"
- 覚えるつもりです [oboeru tsumori desu] means "I intend to memorize."

- A: 何をするつもりですか
What do you intend to do? - B: 本を読むつもりです [hon o yomu tsumori desu]
I intend to read a book. - A: 今晩は何をするつもりですか
What do you intend to do tonight? - B: 単語を覚えるつもりです [tango o oboeru tsumori desu]
I intend to memorize vocabulary.
