How do I go?

  • どう [dō] means "how"
  • 行きますか [ikimasu ka] means "Do I go?"
  • Literally means "How, do I go?"

To ask where a specific place is, add the word for 'place' before this question.
Place + (まで [made]) + どう行きますか

福岡までどう行きますか [Fukuoka made dō ikimasu ka]
How do I go to Fukuoka?

  • 福岡 [Fukuoka] means "Fukuoka"
  • まで [made] means "up to"
  • 福岡まで [Fukuoka made] literally means "Up to Fukuoka"

新幹線で行きます [shinkansen de ikimasu]
You'll go by bullet train.

  • 新幹線 [shinkansen] means "bullet train"
  • [de] marks something as a way, a method, or tool
  • Literally means "bullet train, by, you go"

  • バスで行きます [basu de ikimasu] I will go by bus.
  • 車で行きます [kuruma de ikimasu] I will go by car.
  • 飛行機で行きます [hikōki de ikimasu] I will go by airplane.
