All adjectives end in the sound -い
The adjective can be a sentence all by itself. Ex) 大きい "It's big."

大きいです [ōkii desu]
It's big.

  • 大きい [ōkii] means "big"
  • です [desu] means "it is"
  • Literally means "big, it is"

Make the sentence into a question by just adding か [ka]

  • 大きいです [ōkii desu] It's big. → 大きいですか [ōkii desu ka] Is it big?

林檎は美味しいですか [ringo wa oishii desu ka]
Are apples delicious?

  • 林檎 [ringo] means "apple"
  • [wa] is a particle that marks a subject
  • 美味しいですか [oishii desu ka] means "Is it tasty?"
  • Literally means "apple, Is it tasty?"

果物は高いですか [kudamono wa takai desu ka]
Are fruits expensive?

  • 果物 [kudamono] means "fruits"
  • [wa] is a particle that marks a subject
  • 高いですか [takai desu ka] means "Is it expensive?"
  • Literally means "fruits, Is it expensive?"

Conversation

  • A: 葡萄は美味しいですか
    Are grapes delicious?
  • B: はい、葡萄は美味しいです [hai, budō wa oishii desu]
    Yes, grapes are delicious.
  • A: 葡萄は安いですか?
    Are grapes cheap?
  • B: いいえ、葡萄は高いです [iie, budō wa takai desu]
    No, grapes are expensive.
